From startup to exit: Jim Hawker’s story

Jim grew Threepipe into one of the UK's most respected digital agencies before its sale in 2019.

Here he shares the unfiltered story of how he got there.

Jim’s journey began with him bootstrapping his PR agency with his co-founder. But they ended up scaling their team to 60 people, with revenues of £6m, through a mix of organic growth and bold M&A moves, acquiring an SEO agency and a creative agency along the way. By the time Jim finished his earn-out the agency had grown to £9m revenue with a headcount of 90 people.

In this conversation with BLINK founder John Bradbury, he is refreshingly candid about the real obstacles that can get in the way: why new business strategies so often stall and why the problems worth solving are rarely the ones you expect.

As a happily exited founder, Jim now brings twenty years of hard-won agency experience to bear in helping ambitious agency leaders grow their own businesses.
